How it Ranks: Carnival Freedom ranks #2 out of 24 Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Ships based on an analysis of expert and user ratings, as well as health ratings.
After receiving a major facelift in 2014 (the ship was originally introduced in 2007), Carnival Freedom features all the "Fun Ship 2.0" amenities, such as the EA Sports Bar, the Alchemy Bar, and more new dining and bar options. Carrying nearly 3, 000 passengers, Carnival Freedom offers plenty of daytime diversions, from poolside lounging at one of four main pool areas to swinging at a nine-hole mini-golf course or unwinding in Serenity, an adults-only space. Food options are just as versatile, with two main dining rooms, a steakhouse and the Lido Deck, which offers everything from tacos at BlueIguana Cantina to custom-order stir-fry at the Mongolian Wok. And if you want to bring the whole clan, you'll find children's activities abound: The ship's Seuss at Sea program offers story times and character breakfasts for kids ages 2 to 5. Older kids can play in one of the age-appropriate youth clubs. As for cabins, cruisers can choose between an Interior, Ocean View or Balcony stateroom or a suite, all of which are equipped with TVs, minibars and 24-hour room service. Reviewers note that while Carnival Freedom carries all the megaship amenities, a 3-to-1 passenger-to-crew ratio ensures quality service isn't sacrificed.
